We Really Are Expanding Our Minds

I could have titled this post Nazis, Communists and Feminists.

But, to make it more readable, I’ll stick to bullet points. Oh, that’s a bad pun.
  • Nazis: For two days in May, 1945, as the German forces were leaving Prague, they hunted down prominent citizens and gunned them down in the streets(note–this info comes from notorious historian Bret Lott and so I have no doubt Wikipedia is about to pick it up). There are memorials such as this one all over the city, literally where the people fell and died.
  • Communists: We had a lecture today on
  • Feminism: There are no feminists in Prague (note–this info comes from a highly esteemed female professor from Charles University so I can’t doubt its veracity) because under the Communists everyone was equal and had equally rotten lives. Further, there are no words in the Czech language to capture the spirit of feminism, for example, the Czech word for gender is “gender” of which, according to our lecturer, there are three.
  • More on Feminism: There is no sexual harassment in Prague, because, if, for example, a professor was to make advances behind a closed door to a student, the student would slap him across the face, or, alternately, call his wife. Problem solved.
